Allow me to introduce myself. I am a native of Alliance, NE and a graduate of St. Agnes Academy. Upon graduating from college I opted to move back to my hometown and have really never regretted the decision. Family is very important to me and several family members live in the surrounding area so I have the opportunity to spend time with them whenever I choose.
This is my 35th year in education however it is my eighth year at AMS. I spent the first 27 years of my career teaching a variety of grade levels (Kindergarten, First, Third and Fourth) at St. Agnes.
I received my bachelors degree from Doane College-go Tigers-in Crete, NE in 1981 and my Library Media Specialist Degree from Chadron State College in 2006. I did my internship for my Library degree with the three Alliance Public School Librarians. When Mrs. Boness chose to retire I felt I was ready for a change in my career, applied, and was hired for the position. I really enjoy working with all of the students and staff at AMS, interacting with a great majority of them throughout the day.
I teach library skills to the 5th grade students one day per week for the length of the school year. I also spend a lot of my day working with technology and trying to remedy any problems that occur in the building that I can. This year I will also serve as a liaison to the staff to help introduce the use of Google Docs throughout the school. I spend the rest of the day manning the check out desk, cataloging, processing and shelving books. Whenever there is a break in the action I keep busy ordering new books and materials for the library and maintaining the status quo.
Outside of school I enjoy gardening, walking, cross stitch and of course reading. I am active in the local chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa as well as in my church.
